Solano Recovery Project provides volunteer based, non-clinical, non-medical, para-professional, Recovery Support Services to individuals and families seeking and/or maintaining recovery from alcohol, drugs or other substances. Our “Recovery Connect” program provides Peer-to-Peer Recovery Coaching, information and network referral, and social/recreational activities and events.
Recovery Connect is a live volunteer — 24 hours a day – seven days a week – 365 days a year help, support and information phone line service. We use a web based, telephone answering, automatic forwarding, and message system with three 3 shifts per day for volunteers. Each shift has 3 to 4 volunteer on-call to receive calls. Most calls will be answered within 1 minute, but wait times may be longer with the option to leave a message. Messages will be returned within 24 hours in most cases. Our goal is to answer every call so messages will not be necessary. Most questions can be answered immediately; however more complex requests will need to be researched and return calls made. All calls are confidential so callers are asked to leave a number we can safely return the call.
Recovery Connect is based on peer support which means all of our volunteers are in recovery from alcohol or other drugs, (min 1 year), have a personal program of their own, have similar life experiences, and are willing to assist people find a path to healthier living starting with treatment. Our philosophy is “recovery first and always”. Our experience has shown that success starts with recovery first, most other services fail if this is not addressed. Our volunteers can provide assistance, information, and referrals to treatment programs and will encourage callers to meet with a peer-mentor for guidance and support while navigating treatment, social service agencies, housing, education, finances, and career development needs.
